Town Hit Back for Win.
Caernarfon 2 – 1 Cardiff Met.
Cardiff Met were the visitors for the final weekend of the Cymru Premier League season and with future home advantage in this years’ end of season play-offs depending on the result, the Sgorio cameras and a decent crowd were in attendance for the early kick off.
The hosts began well and forced two corners early doors, although nothing came of either.
The first real opportunity of the match fell to Adam Roscrow, who turned well in the box but Town keeper Ben Hughes was equal to his effort.
For the hosts it was Ryan Sears who first threatened the Met goal, but his header from a Hill throw into the penalty area failed to threaten the target and sailed wide.
The visitors went ahead in the thirty third minute when Caernarfon failed to deal with a corner and although Hughes thwarted a Craven effort the ball fell kindly to Roscrow who put the ball in from close range.
Blaine Hudson went close to levelling just four minutes when Met half cleared a Sars cross, the ball landed at Hudson’s feet in the ‘D’ but his effort cleared the woodwork by two feet.
Town manager Richard Davies must have laid down the law during his half time talk as Caernarfon seemed much sharper after the restart and were back on level terms in the fifty second minute. A long throw into the area from Matty Hill was gathered by Adam Davies, whose volley was kept out by Met stopper Kelland Absolom but Phil Mooney was first to the ball and he smashed it into the roof of the net from two yards for his second goal of the season.
The host stepped up their game again and Osian Ellis went close with a stinging half volley from the edge of the penalty area that Absolom did well to hold on to. Following a period of gaining the upper hand they went ahead in the sixty eighth minute after excellent work by Adam Davies, who beat two defenders in the box before setting up Louis Lloyd, who finished from eight yards for his sixteenth goal of the season.
Caernarfon continued to enjoy the lions’ share of possession for the remainder of the match and claimed an important three points that sees them finishing the season in fourth place.
