Llanelli 1 – 1 Caernarfon.
Caernarfon faced the long trip down South on Saturday to face a Llanelli side that has found it difficult to compete in the Cymru Premier League so far this season. On Saturday, however, the Reds did just that against the Cofis.
Caernarfon began well and dominated the early stages, quickly getting into their stride with lots of possession and they probably should have gone ahead in the third minute when Bradley cut inside from the left flank and into the penalty area, only to fail to get the contact he wanted with his shot, and failed to generate any sort of power on the way into the hands of grateful keeper Alex Pennock.
The hosts went ahead less than a minute later as the entered Caernarfon’s half for the first time through a Pennock free kick into the box. Cronin was first to the ball and he headed across the area, where Jack Norris took full advantage with an excellent volley beyond the reach of Roberts and into the bottom far corner of his net.
The goal affected the visitors and they struggled to impose themselves fully for the next thirty minutes, with Roberts saving them from going further behind just past the half hour mark with a superb fingertip save low to his right to deny Jenkins.
The Cofis felt they should have been awarded a penalty in the thirty eighth minute when Sears was brought down in the box as he shaped to take a shot at goal following a clearance from Pennock but referee James Walker waved away their appeals.
Davies was frustrated not to do better just after the restart when Harrisson set him up with a well weighted header but the striker could not manage a clean strike and the ball was cleared. The striker was in the thick of the action again minutes later when Pennock saved a Lock effort at the far post and with the ball loose in the penalty area, Davies seemed to be brought down by Sanca but again the referee decided against a spot kick, much to the visitors’ frustration.
Despite Caernarfon’s higher share of possession the hosts looked very sharp on the break and Ethan Cann nearly took advantage of a slip by Phil Mooney at the back as he nicked the ball away from the defender but he could not beat Roberts with his effort from fourteen yards.
Substitutes Evand and Owen nearly linked up to provide an equaliser for Caernarfon in the seventy sixth minute when the latter crossed the ball into the box but Evans could not hit the target from six yards as the ball flew high and wide.
Llanelly were hanging on desperately to their in the latter stages and Evans should have scored four minutes from time when Abadaki found him free eight yards out from goal but his headed attempt flashed wide of the target.
Finally, in the second minute of injury time, Caernarfon found the goal they had been threatening for a while, Lock find space for himself as he ran to the far post and beat Pennock with powerful low effort that gave the keep no chance.
